“The infinity of music surpasses any finite ego”: Adrija Čepaitė on the role of a conductor
Here is my interview about authenticity in music. This well acclaimed CD of Lithuanian classical music has given me an opportunity to express my thoughts. My message is this: our finite ego tends to imprison the infinity of music; do not let this poor creature in us suppress the flight towards the ever-transcendent true beauty.
To be a musician means a relentless attempt to break free of any finitude, including ourselves: ‚I dare to say that the rebellious spirit of Ludwig van Beethoven is very much alive amongst us. I wish it gained creative force even more.’
